Our Drop In Frames are designed for masonry type islands. A masonry island is constructed with solid block and firebrick. Islands should always be constructed only with non-flammable materials. The frame is designed to hang in the counter opening, supported by the grill lips. A licensed contractor or mason can help you with island construction.
Recommended counter opening size: 1/2" Larger Length and 1/2" Larger Width. Example (36x24) Counter Opening should be 36.5"x 24.5". For wood or charcoal fires a depth of 13"-18" is ideal, depending on your fuel and fire size preference. Here is an example of masonry island construction you may show your contractor.
